Building Blocks
On the way back from our successful tour of Estonia, we stop off at a rural location to begin the building of our championship stadium. This stadium will be a feat of engineering, and the innovation and vision of the overall concept is likely to scoop several top architectural and design awards. Read More
One Giant Leap for Three Step Endeavour
3SE have come first (best) in the Estonian ‘Don’t-Stop-Hopscotch’ Championship Games 2012. It seems that the days of training are paying off as the UK Professional Hopscotching team conquer similar teams from other countries. Proud upon a podium made of chicken cages Team member Holly Darton (STEP) was interviewed shortly after smashing the dreams of the other participants and said “I believe it’s the outfits that have done it for us this time…... Building Momentum
The silence on the blog indicates the activity away from the computer: Three Step Endeavour have been busy busy building a stadium for our hopscotching extravaganza! We have been thinking about: what makes a stadium a stadium? How do you train a mascot? How much vinyl is enough vinyl? Red or Blue? Green or Blue? We have been cleaning, putting up, taking down, measuring, cutting, sticking, talking, writing, hopping, stepping and jumping. We have also been looking great. Read More
running jumps
I’ve been back to Colchester Athletics and I’ve even been running. Arthur is amazing. He is very patient and has a lot of coaching experience, he works at the track now and coaches young people, army people and even people like me there. He has been in the army and has been active all his life, often walking, climbing and running in the hills when he was a youngster. Rather than coaching me on the runs he is coaxing me; gently gently, softly softly. And it’s... Read More
silly jumps
I went to Colchester Athletics. I didn’t do anything but I went. That was the warm up and next week I’m going to go for a run with Arthur, who modestly told me that he did ‘alright’ at a race the day before. What he meant was that he came second and the points he got from that mean he is currently the Essex Champ! He did have a tinge of a pride when he told me I would be running with an Essex Champ though. I would be shouting it through a megaphone. I told... Read More
slightly bigger jumps
Ta-dah! This morning I got up at 6.15am and went for a run!!! 5k in 30.43 mins. Whoop whoop. This is not even the first time I have woken early this week to exercise: On Tuesday I awoke to do 30 mins of yoga. On Monday I also went for a run (25 mins). Last Friday I went swimming (I could only do two lengths at a time before I ran out of breath but I kept going after my little rests). Last Thursday I ran for 20 mins first thing in the morning. Have I cracked it??? Notice I am posting... Read More
small jumps
Just one small jump at a time. I went to the doctors and got some antibiotics for the annoying cough that turned out to be a chest infection. I have been eating little and often and healthily, following the advice of the nutritionist (and lost 2 3/4 lbs) I have been getting up early and doing yoga and also walking briskly for at least 30 mins a day. Fantastic. (except for the weekend, when I did no yoga, ate a huge bacon baguette and some chips and cake and put 2 lbs back on) Anyway.... Read More
not so bad
I didn’t need to worry. The people at the Human Performance Unit were lovely and quick to put us at ease, despite prodding and poking us. It was a very strange feeling, being measured and tested. I have an idea of myself, which consists of my feelings, thoughts – the essence of me. I have never really paid much attention to the physical idea of ‘me’ other than being an easy way to get around. So on one hand I felt as though the tests were outside of me,... Read More
scared stiff
Heading off to the Human Performance Unit at Essex University tomorrow. And I’m really rather scared. Here are my excuses for performing badly: At the start of the summer my achilles heel was poorly. Then when that got better (mainly) I got a cough. The cough stops me exercising as it stops me breathing very well. So, I have stopped my early morning exercises (and I really was doing very well) and in my panic at the thought of athletic tests I have been eating lots of junk... Read More
jump yoga
decided to leave the gym. Went to watch my brother in the mixed Olympic London Tri at the end of July and he came second in his wave out of 388 people. He was the first male. He doesn’t go to the gym. Admittedly he is something of a Superman, often cycling 25 miles to work, working a full day and then cycling home before heading off to the swimming pool. The point is he is able to motivate himself without the gym. And I share a lot of his genetic makeup, so I also should... Read More
